One of the biggest users of magnets are businesses within the food and beverage industry — especially the restaurant segment. Magnets within households provide an extremely high-degree of visibility — multiple times per day. The kitchen is one of the highest-traffic areas within the average household, so having your brand in front of this traffic is ideal. The convenience of your businesses number being so accessible is a great way to make "purchasing from you" even easier. It also helps combat your local competition.
Several things you can put on this magnet are the phone number, hours that your services are available, and a tagline or easy-to-remember deal. If you have a convenient website or promotional online page, placing a QR code on the magnet will allow for easy access. Additionally, keeping in line with the branding of the business by using the company logo and any colors associated with the company is important as well.
While having a magnet for a food take out company seems obvious, it's not the only industry that can take advantage of this marketing space. Lets say you own a tree removal company and you pass out these magnets. When someone has a tree come down from a storm and needs assistance quickly, they are looking to find a number to call right away for this service. Having the number on the refrigerator is likely going to be the number they call because it has been seen everyday!
One trick to keep your magnet "sticking around" is to include local emergency phone numbers. This is very helpful and valuable — especially for families with children.
Recently when I went to visit some friends I saw several magnets on their refrigerator, I asked if the food at this restaurant was any good. They told me it was but that it closed down. I was surprised they would keep the magnet and he told me, "you can't throw magnets away, they are too useful!" Since magnets have a separate function they can be used for, it likely that this marketing piece will be kept and used, allowing your marketing dollars to work longer!
No matter what industry you specialize in why wouldn't you want to be the first one that comes to a prospective customer's mind. Virtually every business can have success with magnet advertising.
