Doubting EDDM?

If there was a doubt in your mind about direct mail, then you haven't tried the US Postal Service's Every Door Direct Mail (EDDM) Program. Many direct mail non-believers feel that direct mail is outdated and too traditional in this digital age. But on the contrary, direct mail has only increased and continues to soar in effectiveness and successful businesses using it.

When you find a marketing tool this spectacular, that generates new sales and leads and increases ROI by so much, you won't even want to share. After you have tried this program and have seen the success from it, there is definitely a small part of you that wants to keep it all to yourself. You don't want your competitors to find out about it so that you can gain all the market share from it. But if and when they do, you have to be even more aggressive in your mailings and offers to stay on top.

50% of advertising is direct marketing because it is so effective and direct mail contributes to that statistic in a big way. So to all those anti-direct mail folks, direct mail has proven that it is worth every penny and sustainable. Many people will come out and say, "I didn't receive a response at all from my direct mailer!" There are so many variables that can be beneficial or detrimental to your mailing campaign. Some variables that affect effectiveness are how many pieces you mail, when you mail them, and who you are targeting as opposed to who you actually mail to. With every factor calculated and accounted for, you are more prepared to start your campaign.

Knowing all the variables that can affect your mailer will increase your chances of success because you will be way more organized. The more organized you begin, the easier the process is. So for those people that are absolutely against direct marketing, if at first you don't succeed, dust yourself off and try again!
