Know Your Customers
Where should you start when you want to begin a direct mailing? Your target audience should be your first priority. When you know who you want to create a response from, it is easier for you to tailor your message to those customers. To create the best response, you want to be able to refine your mailing piece to the customers that you want to target. When you have the right offers in mind targeted for certain areas, you will gain more of a response by customizing your offers to your target audience.
Knowing is half the battle and the more you know about the people that you want to target, the better you will be able to cater to their needs. Certain areas offer certain demographics and it is always easy to start with a good idea of who you are marketing to. This definitely takes the stress out of the planning process before your direct mailer. The offers and discounts that you present are very important because they need to be so valuable that your recipient cannot pass up; the more valuable the offer, the more of a response that you will receive back. You want your customers to know that you offer the best pricing and the deals that you are should not be passed up; deals that they can't refuse!
When you understand your customers, you know what kind of discounts they want to receive when direct mailing to them for certain products. If you are able to offer those to them without it costing you an arm or a leg, it will be worth it to present these offer to your customers. When they receive a great value, they will not be able to overlook it and want to take advantage of it as soon as possible. Your customers know what they want and you should make it a priority to know what they want and offer it to them the best you can to maintain customer loyalty.
