Non-Profit Thank You Cards

Charitable donations typically increase during the holiday and in the non-profit realm, every little bit helps.  That is why it is so important to keep your donors close.  After the holiday season of donations, or any time after a donation for that matter, there should be a Thank You card being sent out to show your appreciate for their generous donation.

The more that your donors feel close to you, building a connection with you, and they can feel how sincerely appreciative you are of them; the more likely they will keep donating to support your cause.  Just a simple postcard, nothing too fancy – you want to keep it modest.  To show your appreciation for your donors, your thank you postcards should have a hand written message specific to every donor and the reverse side should be customized to your organization.

As you plan the design of your postcard, remember to keep it simple.  You want your donors to focus on the message that you are conveying, so too much color or graphics will take away from the sincerity of your thank you.  It’s great to include one or two pictures that is specific to your charity because it gives your donors a sense of personality and they will feel closer to who they are helping if you keep them informed and connected.

Your thank you postcard will only solidify the relationship that you have built with your donors.  It shows how much you care and how their donation has helped the cause.  To keep your donors engaged, you have to keep them in the loop so they don’t feel like just a number to you.  You value their donation and if they are able to see how their generous donation has helped the cause that they care about, they are more likely to remain as loyal donors in the future.
