Blueprint: Every Door Direct Mail Marketing Strategy for Pizzerias

mail pizza offers

With Every Door Direct Mail , any pizzeria can send out offers to local homes (and businesses) for less than ever before. You can mail takeout menus, postcards, flyers, and coupons to find new customers, retain current customers, and generate more cash flow.

Even better, you can use the mailers to quickly build a customer database via online ordering platforms or good-old-fashioned sign up forms.

Your EDDM™ mailing campaign can have (2) key goals:

Goal 1. Create New Orders/Sales
Goal 2. Capture Customer Email & Mobile Phone Opt-Ins

If my mailbox and email inbox is like yours, I receive offers from the "big chains" almost daily. Coupons in the mail, and emails in my inbox. Whether I purchase or not, I am engaged with the brands that I receive offers from. I can tell you, without thinking, that one of the chains is pushing oven-baked sandwhiches, another is offering $10 unlimited topping pizzas, and yet another is telling me I should down load their new pizza "game app" on my phone.

How do I remember all of these offers? Simply from seeing them on a frequent basis. More importantly, I can tell you that my favorite local spot, a non-chain indie pizzeria, has a LRG 2-Topping offer for $14.99.

That's right, I know a local pizzeria's offers by memory too.

Why? Because their marketing works, and I enjoy receiving their coupons in the mail every few weeks.

(In case you were wondering, I order from the local pizza shop approximately twice each month and always use the coupon.)

I urge you to mail out offers for your pizzeria, and connect with local prospective customers. Now, more than ever, the word about your great food and offers will spread. People instantly post reviews, share photos, and talk about "what's for dinner" on their social media pages. If you aren't part of that conversation, you will miss out and lose market share.

Makes sense, right?

I thought I would share this powerful 3-month Every Door Direct Mail marketing strategy with you today. With six years of direct marketing experience, and more than one thousands pizza clients, I can say without hesitation, that this strategy will put your pizzeria on the map, or help breathe new life into your phone lines and sales.

Here's the schedule:

Mailing #1: Takeout Menus w/ Coupons (see attached 11x17 example)
Month 1

Mail your menus to every local household within your immedaite surrounding target area (usually one or two miles). The takeout menu is the first thing customers look for when deciding “what to order” and “where to order”. By including aggressive coupons, you provide customers with an incentive to order immediately. These fill-sized menus will stand otu on the fridge, in the kitchen cabinet, or when it's laying on the table. Always start your mailing campaign with menus. View Pricing

Mailing #2: Giant-Postcards w/ Coupons
Month 2

Once customers have your menus in-house, reinforce your message with a giant-sized postcard. You can split-test new offers and also send customers an abbreviated version of your full menu (include the most popular food items for takeout and delivery). The focus of this postcard should be on popular items and best-sellers that are easy to prepare and fast to deliver (also items with solid profit margins).  View Pricing

Mailing #3: Postcard Follow-up
Month 3

This mailing will provide customers with a reason to place an order immediately. This postcard size has less “real estate” to work with, so the focus should be on keeping current and prospective customers engaged with your business. Perhaps try a special pizza or dish that is unique to your specific restaurant, and provide customers with an incentive to order. You can also include a positive review or testimonial from a previous customer with their permission.  View Pricing

Stick to this formula and you should see results very quickly. Direct mail is a highly-invasive (a good thing) form of marketing that guarantees your offers will find their way into prospective customers' hands.

If you need to kick-start your sales and gain market share, nothing outperforms Every Door Direct Mail ™.

All the best,
